Fishing Report, Month of October, Lake Guntersville

Fishing Report, Month of October, Lake Guntersville

It was one of the best fall months I have ever been part of on Guntersville Lake. The bass began a slow transition to the fall patterns; we began the month with bass very much in the summer mode feeding on slow moving baits like Missile Bait D-Bombs. As the month transitioned from the summertime patterns, we found the bass moving to the main river points and drops, especially on the back side of the river channel. The last week of October was more typical back of creeks fall patterns.

We saw a big second spawn and to some degrees we are still seeing some late second spawning fish as we are still catching bloody tail bass as of the last week of October. There were plenty of big fish caught in October and the numbers were terrific all through the month.

The fall tournaments have been full of big catches with many bags being weighed in over 20 lbs. throughout the month. If you haven’t had a chance to experience Lake Guntersville, this fall you have missed some of the best fishing of the year on Lake Guntersville.

Baits have moved from slow moving soft plastics to reaction baits SPRO Aruka Shad, Tight-Line swim jigs, Tight-Line chatter baits. Movement, erratic bait change from reel speed and wrist movement were the key to big catches as we ended the month of October!
