Frequently Asked Questions

What species do you target?

Lake Guntersville is known for world-class largemouth bass fishing! We mainly target bass, but we do have guides available for crappie fishing 12 months a year. Crappie is a little more seasonal than bass, but we will guide you based on their feeding patterns.

What do I need to bring?

You’ll want to bring:
-A valid Alabama fishing license (required for ages 16+)
-Appropriate clothing for the weather, which means rain gear for any trip and warm clothing for cold or windy days on the water
-Sunglasses (polarized if possible), sunscreen, and a hat
-Drinks, snacks, and anything else you’ll need for the day
-A camera or smartphone for photos

We provide all the rods, reels, tackle, and safety equipment you’ll need. However small frame children 8 years and under need a proper fitting life jacket as it must be worn at all times on the water at this age. So please bring a proper fitting life jacket for small children.

Do I need to have fishing experience?

No experience needed! We welcome all skill levels — from complete beginners to seasoned pros. Your guide will work with you at your pace to make sure you have an awesome day on the water.

How long are the fishing trips?

We offer several trip options:
Half-Day Trips (4 hours)
Full-Day Trips (6–8 hours)

You’ll get professional guidance, top-quality gear, and a personalized fishing experience.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If unsafe weather (like lightning, strong storms, or high winds) is expected, we’ll reschedule your trip or refund your deposit. You can reschedule anytime within the calendar year
If it’s just light rain, trips usually still go out — a little rain often fires up the fish!

Are kids welcome?

Absolutely! Fishing is a great family activity, and we love introducing kids to the outdoors. We will ensure it is safe, enjoyable, and memorable for young anglers.

Can I bring my own fishing gear?

Of course! You’re welcome to bring your favorite rod, reel, or lucky lure. If not, no worries — we have high-quality professional equipment ready for you.
