Lake Guntersville Fishing Report, Month of February 2026

Lake Guntersville, Fishing Report, Month of February 2026

Guntersville proved its best of the best in February with some record catches throughout the month. It wasn’t without its struggles though as cold fronts ate up the month and caused some tough days in February. Sure, there was some great results in February of 2026, but not all days were created equal as water temperatures rose and fell with the constant weather change and as the water temperature went up and down the fishing was no different it was also up and down.

As I have written about before, water temperature from 48 to 56 degrees are the start of the pre-spawn where the bass start moving toward the spawning beds and is always the case in February when we see the warming trend is when we get activity increases and the bass start their pre-spawn movement. This February was the same but there was more cold fronts than warm ones making good days on the water limited as the cold spells constantly slowed the bite giving you on an average of about 2 days a week of the good times. But when it was good it was really good with big fish catches, good numbers and lots of action during those good days.

March will bring more consistency as the cold fronts won’t last as long and will move out much quicker than they did in February. Baits will change from the beginning of the month to the end as late March will bring on the spawn making moving baits less viable and force you to slow down to soft plastic variations to catch fish. Variety of soft plastic variations will be the key so be willing to try many ways of plastic fishing to find the one that entices the bite. It will be a great time to bring children to the water as bites will be awesome and catches should be the easiest of the season so far; cold fronts will still be an issue but not as massive as February.
