There are many things to overcome on Lake Guntersville as we transition to October and fall fishing on Lake Guntersville. The weather will change drastically as the month moves on, the number of tournaments as we are already seeing will keep the fish pushed and beat up through November, every spot you thought you knew will have fisherman on top of them. The next must for me is just results over different areas and patterns that are showing up as I move on to various locations; what is holding fish, what is not. The mapping you have on your boat can be paramount as what you are seeing on the contours can make a substantial difference. Looking for contour breaks change in bottom structure and points makes all the difference. Water temperature, many times in the fall you can be in an area where the water temperature is much different from one creek to another, when fish are feeding in 65-degree water and you are sitting in 70-degree water it is time to change. Bait is always a key, if you do not see bait moving or being busted in the fall, you are in the wrong location.

Lastly you must be able to utilize different fall baits as patterns and baits can change from hour to hour on Guntersville. When you see boats everywhere around you, a fisherman who is versatile is one who can adjust to the pressure makes all the difference to a successful trip or not.
